Eco Friendly House Design for Tropical Climates

More and more people are aware of the need to save resources by building eco friendly houses. In cooler climates there are many eco friendly building methods that are becoming main stream.

Incorporating solar panels into the design of a house is one way of cutting heating bills and reducing carbon emissions.

But what considerations do you need to take into account when building an eco house in a tropical zone? Keeping the house cool, rather than warming it up, is one of the main considerations. Air conditioning is as expensive, if not more so, to run than heating and greatly increases a house's carbon foot print.

An architect with knowledge of airflows can design a house that takes full advantage of natural breezes to keep the house cool and uses light and shaded areas to full advantage.

The late, great architect Laurie Baker enshrined a set of principles which included the advise to "study and know local materials" and know how they perform and where to find workmen that understand their use. He also advised - "don't rob national resources" - they should not be used extravagantly or unnecessarily.

Photograph Printing Considerations

The advances of digital technology and easy access to cameras that generate high-quality images mean that anyone can print their photos. It is not as easy as clinking 'print', but it's not complicated either. All it needs is an understanding of certain things that can affect the quality of the printed photo, and anyone can generate a professional-looking print. Here are some of the factors to consider:

Image Quality

Evaluating whether a photograph is good enough to be printed can be done by checking its DPI aspect. Dots Per Inch (DPI) refers to the measurement of the number of pixels used in a single inch, in the photo. A DPI measurement of 100 or below is considered far (or bad), a measurement between 100 and 200 is considered good, and a measurement of 300 or more is considered excellent.

Choice of Printer Type

The choice of printer affects the quality of the photograph in a major way. There are two main types of printers: document printers and photo printers. Document printers, as the name suggests, are used to print documents which are text-heavy. Photo printers, on the other hand, are used to print photographs and images only. Inkjet printers or inkjet cartridges that are specialised to print photos improve the quality of the prints by printing in six or eight colours, as opposed to the usual four. Having two extra colours to print with make them capable of printing a wider range of shades, and reduce the number of visible dots in the photograph.

traditional tattoo

Traditional designs are using heavy black outlines with minimal color and a lot of black shades. So, they are usually darker in appearance and the color choice is limited to simple colors such as average blue, green, red and yellow. Colors are used in blocks with very few details. Also, they are being styled in such a standard way that everything they portray appears as a two-dimensional shape, without any three-dimensional depth.

Traditional designs usually lack a lot of complicity since they were done years ago with less advanced equipment and the tattoos were made fast at lower prices. Many traditional tattoo designs are portraying military and nautical motives and themes, as navy and army men were the primary tattoo clients. This traditional style preserved its popularity throughout the years, thanks to its historical significance, clearly readable simplicity and traditional American roots.

In order to make real traditional designs, tattoo artists have to work with a set of rules which will make their tattoos really traditional. These rules mostly apply on certain motives and themes and how these could be colored or drawn. For their basis traditional artists are using the work of respected and well known pioneers of this style, such as Sailor Jerry Collins, Don Ed Hardy and Lyle Tuttle. That is why a large number of traditional designs are being taken directly or interpreted from the sheets of tattoo designs prepared for mass replication, widely known as "flash".

how to take care of body piercing

There are a lot of different ways for people to express themselves. Of course, not everybody has the time and resources to create a giant marble statue or write a series of novels. For most people, self-expression can be a matter as simple as putting on a particular kind of shirt, or wearing an interesting hat. For some people, self-assertion can go a little further than simply accessorizing and can be a little more... permanent.

Part of the appeal of body art like tattoos and body piercings, is that they can declare a person's sense of identity and point of view, even when they're going au natural. Between these two forms of body art, more people tend to do body piercing than tattoos though; especially since piercings are usually easy to do than tattoos.

As far as the question of how to take care of body piercing is concerned, barring infections or any other kinds of problems, it's usually pretty easy. The body piercing side effects, on the other hand, can range from completely negligible, to excruciatingly painful. Of course, these depend on where the piercing will be located.

If you're willing to take the pain that can come with piercing and the subsequent healing process, you can have piercings just about anywhere in the body. You can even have your genitals pierced; if that's the way you want to express yourself.

SMALL SKATEBOARD

A small skateboard is a skateboard that is small enough to be used by a younger skater. Adult sized boards are often too heavy and cumbersome to be used by younger skaters, which is why small skateboards are so popular among younger kids and even some high-schoolers. If you feel like an adult sized skateboard is just too large for you to use safely and comfortably, then you should definitely try out a small skateboard and see how it feels. These boards are shorter, lighter, and just as tough as adult sized boards. In fact, there are a lot of professional-level junior skaters using small skateboards for competition!

When it comes time to buy a small skateboard, there are a few things that you need to take into consideration. First of all, what kind of design do you want on the skateboard? Most skateboards sport some sort of design on the bottom, and this plays a big part in how the skateboard looks. There are all kinds of different designs available. A lot of them are very punk and grunge in nature, sporting skull graphics, stripes, splatters, and various other types of symbols and designs. Choosing the right small skateboard design is really a matter of choice. There are so many to choose from that you should have no trouble finding something that you really like.

The next thing you need to think about is what brand you want. There are a lot of brands out there, though not all of them are the same. One fact that you can take solace in is the fact that even the cheapest, most generic small skateboards (providing they are actually real skateboards) will help you ride now and then. But what you also need to know is that, if you expect to tear up the half-pipe several times a week for hours on end with your friends, you are going to need a name-brand board that can get the job done without snapping in half! Stunts like grinding, jumping, and riding a manual also take their toll on a board. If you want to perform tricks on your small skateboard, it is important to buy one that can stand up to the abuse. A good name brand board will not cost you too much, and it can actually save you money in the long run by helping you avoid breaks and accidents that could cost you for a new board. A good brand is really worth the money, especially if it will be seeing a lot of use.

skateboarding

Skateboarding and the birth of the skateboard have been around since the 1920's: where it all began. Skateboarding was slow to begin; but, when it did, it spread like wild flowers. Throughout the time span of 1920's to 2012 the skateboarding industry and has made comebacks. Each time the industry came back, it became more extreme. Now it's time for the new generation to come in.

The first known skateboard was in the 1920's. Between the 1920's and 1930's created was a three wheeled metal device. By the 1940's, the first four wheeled aluminum skateboard were made. In the 1950's skaters were putting the wheels and trucks onto a plank of wood: homemade. In the 1960's was the introduction of the first manufactured skateboard. Southern California's surf shop; Val Surf, began making its own complete skateboards: the first known retail shop to sell skateboards. Kids began referring to skating as "sidewalk surfing." The sidewalk surfing influenced everything from maneuvers and style to fashion and attitude. The era really kicked off. Skateboarding becomes wide spread and very popular: companies struggle to keep up with the demand. Skateboarding magazines were popping up such as: Surf magazine and SKATEBOARDER magazine. During the 60's the first known organized contest, sponsored by Makaha, was held in Hermosa, California. The first pro model skateboard ever produced (Makaha) was the fibreflex: first laminated board created for skaters. During this time Anaheim, California had the first skateboard shoe factory and the first known Skate Park. There was also a craze in Montreal, Quebec. Even though skateboarding was very popular all over, many people did not like it and was trying to ban it.

When the 1970's hit, skateboarding had exploded. The first urethane wheels were made exclusively for skateboarding: Cadillac Wheels, by Frank Nasworthy. Two years later, Road Rider........

body piercings

There are a lot of different ways for people to express themselves. Of course, not everybody has the time and resources to create a giant marble statue or write a series of novels.

Not very many people in Westernized societies are inclined to do this, but those who do often claim that the pierced erm... areas enjoy enhanced sensitivity and that the sexual experience is improved.

It might be worth it for some people, but for a lot of others, the unbelievable pain that, say, a Prince Albert or an Isabella might involve, simply doesn't have enough of a payoff to make up for the horror of having your sensitive bits get stabbed through with a needle or a piercing gun. And that doesn't even take into account the recovery periods that these piercings require.

On the issue of how to take care of body piercings in these places, a Prince Albert, which is a piercing through the head of a man's... man-bits, has a healing period of two to four weeks. The Isabella piercing, which goes through the shaft of a woman's clitoris, has one that is two to three months long.

Of course, there are a lot of other, less sensitive places to get piercings.

The most common and socially acceptable places for people -women in particular- to get piercings are on the lower lobes of the ears. These spots are pretty easy to take care of, and since ear lobes are mostly fatty tissue with hardly any nerve endings anyway, they hardly hurt at all, once the deed has been done. Other common places to get body piercings are on the nostril, the lip, belly button, and eyebrows.

Regardless of where you want to puncture that hole in your anatomy, once the deed is done, you will have to watch out for body piercing side effects, like the swelling that might initially happen during the healing process.

body piercing part 2

In Central and South America, lip labrets were popular for purely aesthetic reasons - women with pierced lips were considered more attractive. In fact, the holes were often stretched to incredible size as progressively larger wooden plates were inserted to emphasize the lips as much as possible. (Kind of like collagen today). The Aztecs and Maya also sported lip labrets of gold and jade, many of them elaborately carved into mythical or religious figures or sporting gemstones. These were seen as highly attractive and to enhance sexuality. As the world moved into the dark ages, interest in piercing died down somewhat and the medieval church began to condemn it as sinful. For a few hundred years, Western civilization abandoned the practice. As the Renaissance went into full swing, however, interest in piercing began to pick up again. A new era and a new interest in body piercings Sailors became convinced that piercing one ear would improve their long-distance site, and so the site of a sailor with a gold or brass ring became common. Word also spread that should a sailor be washed ashore after a shipwreck, the finder should keep the gold ring in exchange for providing a proper Christian burial. Sailors were both religious and superstitious, so they generally spent a lot for a large gold earring to hedge their bets. Men became much more fashion-conscious during the Renaissance and Elizabethan eras, and almost any male member of the nobility would have at least one earring, if not more. Large pearl drops and enormous diamond studs were a great way to advertise your wealth and standing in the community. It could also designate royal favor if your earring was a gift from a member of the royal family. Women, not wanting to be outshone by the men in all their finery, began to wear plunging necklines, with the Queen of Bavaria introducing the most outrageous, which consisted of not much at all above the waist. In order to adorn themselves, women began piercing their nipples to show off their jewelry. Soon they began wearing chains and even strands of pearls draped between the two.

body piercing

Body piercings have seen a resurgence of interest in the last ten to twenty years and are becoming more and more a part of the mainstream Western culture. Take a look at any fashion or entertainment magazine and you'll see plenty of well-known celebrities with body piercings like navel rings or a labret. You might be surprised to find out that piercing is actually an ancient form of expression that most cultures have practiced at some time or other for thousands of years. Egyptian body piercings reflected status and love of beauty The earliest known mummified remains of a human that was pierced is over 5,000 years old. This worthy gentleman had his ears pierced with larger-gauge plugs in his ears, so plugs may be one of the oldest forms of body modification there is! We also know that the Egyptians loved to adorn themselves elaborately, and even restricted certain types of body piercings to the royal family. In fact, only pharaoh himself could have his navel pierced. Anyone else who tried to get a belly button ring could be executed. (Tell that to Britney Spears!) Almost every well-to-do Egyptian wore earrings, though, to display their wealth and accent their beauty. Elaborate enameled and gold earrings frequently portrayed items in nature such as lotus blossoms. Body piercings are also mentioned in the Bible. In the Old Testament it's obvious that body jewelry is considered a mark of beauty and wealth, especially for Bedouin and nomadic tribes. In many cases, body jewelry was given as a bridal gift or as part of a dowry. It is clear that piercing was a sign of status and attractiveness in Biblical times. Romans were practical piercers Romans were very practical people, and for them piercing almost always served a purpose. Roman centurions pierced their nipples not because they liked the way it looked, but to signify their strength and virility. It was a badge of honor that demonstrated the centurion's dedication to the Roman Empire. As a symbol, it was important and served a specific function, unifying and bonding the army. Even Julius Caesar pierced his nipples to show his strength and his identification with his men. Genital piercing through the head of the penis was performed on gladiators, who were almost always slaves, for two reasons. A ring through the head of the penis could be used to tie the organ back to the testicles with a length of leather. In gladiatorial combat, this prevented serious injury. With a large enough ring or bar, it also prevented the slave from having sex without the owner's consent. Since the gladiator was "property," a stud fee could be charged to another slave owner for the highly prized opportunity to raise the next generation of great fighter. Making love or war, piercing makes it better Going across the ocean at around the same time, the Aztecs, Maya and some American Indians practiced tongue piercing as part of their religious rituals. It was thought to bring them closer to their gods and was a type of ritual blood-letting. The Aztec and Maya were warrior tribes, and also practiced septum piercing in order to appear fiercer to their enemies. Nothing looks quite as frightening as an opponent sporting a huge boar tusk thrust through his nose!
